Philadelphia, Pa. – Crista Ricketts scored a career-high 30 points to lead the La Salle charge as the Explorers (8-1) shot a sizzling 49 percent in the team's 67-53 victory over Drexel(2-6, 0-1 CAA). Kira Karlstrom, the Dragons' 5-foot-4 point guard, pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds, including 15 in the second half. Her nine offensive boards went largely unused, however, as Drexel shot a chilly 29.7 percent from the floor in the contest.
Anora Suber led the Dragons with 12 points, which came on a pair of back-to-back three-pointers in each half. Suber's shooting helped to keep the Dragons in the action in the first half after the team fell behind 21-5. Suber's knocked down consecutive three-pointers with 3:22 left the in the first half, the second of which trimmed La Salle's lead to 32-27. But that would be as close as the Dragons would get for the duration of the contest.
Jennifer Stjarnstrom scored a career-high nine points in the first half to keep the Dragons alive. La Salle tore off the nets, shooting 52 percent in the first half. The Dragons kept pace, making 40.7 percent of their shots from the field.
The Explorers opened the second half with a 14-4 run that gave them a 19-point lead, 53-34, just under eight minutes into the period. From there La Salle coasted to the win courtesy of Rickett's 6-for-7 shooting from the field. The senior forward missed just four shots all game (11-for-15).
Karlstrom's 16 rebounds and nine offensive boards are season highs for the team. The diminutive guard also recorded the second block of her career in the game. Anora Suber's four three-pointers also marked a career high.
